Here are a couple projects for today. All assignments are go-at-your-own-pace.

Printing the letter G.

  • Lets practice printing the big G and little g on lined paper (if you have it).
    • Anaïs says everyone needs to print their age plus one. So everyone who is 5 prints 6 and everyone who is 6 prints 7.
  • Next, write some words that start with G, for example: go, got, get, gut, gal, girl.
    • You can go crazy and try bigger words like galaxy or green or gorilla if you choose. It is your word bank to save words you can practice reading and writing later.

Math

  • We had begun discussing Measurement in class, especially math words like height and length.
  • Today I would students to measure their feet.
  • Materials: a piece of paper, a ruler, a pencil and a foot.
  • Steps: Trace the foot. Measure the foot from top to bottom. Students write their names and the number of centimetres in the foot, for example Mr. Neufeld 25cm.
  • Parents: just round up if it's in between numbers.

The vegetables are growing in the greenhouse. Can students find baby plants outside, talk about what they see, and take a picture with it?

Parents: We planted local wildflowers in biodegradable pots in our greenhouse that were meant to go home for Mother's Day. Next week, during our office hours, I will be putting the pots just outside the greenhouse for you to pick up when you can. Students names are on the pots. Take them home, take care of them, and everyone pretend to be surprised on May 10th.
