Bug scavenger hunt
Go for a walk in the forest and look for the insects we have been talking about this month: spiders, butterflies, bees, worms. They are everywhere right now! Count how many you see (use tally marks!). Write it down and send a picture to Mr. Neufeld. Or just go for a hike a look for the flowers that are starting to turn into berries!

Language Arts
Words Their Way: Sorting more Words that Rhyme (green sheet in package)
You may want to WATCH MY VIDEO from last Thursday for instructions on how to do this activity the way Mrs. Curle likes it in grade 1.
- Review what it means when words rhyme?
- think of several examples like Cash and splash, chair and square, rhyme and time...
- Using 2 different coloured crayons, scribble all over the back of the sheet - A LOT!
- Using scissors, cut around the outside first (you should end up with a frame).
- then cut down, then across.
- Sort the pictures that rhyme. Mrs. Curle makes students do it 3 times!
- On a piece of paper, glue the pictures into their groups (remember to think before you glue!).
- take a picture of your finished work and send it to Mr. Neufeld so he can show off to Mrs. Curle.

- Introduce Cubes and Spheres
- discuss the difference between a square and a cube
- find a cube in your house
- discuss the difference between a circle and a sphere
- find a sphere in your house
- take a picture of each and send to Mr. Neufeld
- If you have your package, complete the worksheet that asks you to circle the cubes and spheres and X out other shapes.
Wilderness Wednesday
Spiders
- Go outside and look for a spider.
- observe the spider
- Discuss: What is it doing? Where does it live? Why does it set traps all over the yard? Can you count its legs? Can you see its eyes?
- In your Journal, draw the spider and what it was doing.
- write a sentence that matches your drawing.

Writing and printing the digraph ch- if you have your package: complete the Let's learn the digraph Ch sheet
- if you do not have the package: practice printing words that start with ch
- words like: chin, chop, chug, chat, cherry, chipmunk, cheeseburger...
- write a sentence with one of these words and then draw a picture to match your sentence.
