Cut! Paste! Write! Draw!
It is windy in the spring.
  • cut out the words on the bottom of the page.
  • glue the words in the proper order in the box the says, "paste."
  • copy the sentence on the guidelines. Don't forget the period or we will not know when to stop!
  • Draw a picture to match the sentence (see example).
  • take a picture and send to Mr. Neufeld.

What is a tree?
  • Question: what is a tree? 
    • What does a tree do? 
    • How do animals use it? 
    • What do humans use it for?

    • for example: nuts, pinecones, leaves, pine needles, sticks, acorns...

Today is Cash's birthday!

  • Let's make a poster saying, "Happy Birthday Cash!"
  • write little 6s all over it, then colour and decorate it.
  • Take a picture and send it to Mr. Neufeld so he can share it with Cash.

Observe, report and predict the weather today.

Language Arts

Writing and printing the digraph wh
  • if you have your package: complete the Let's learn the digraph Wh sheet
  • if you do not have the package: practice printing words that start with wh
    • words like: what, when, why, where, whale, whip, which
  • write a sentence with one of these words and then draw a picture to match your sentence.
    • Here is are some sample sentences: 
      • My whale is white.
      • Why is the wheel flat?
      • Where is the whip?
  • take a picture and email to Mr. Neufeld.

Read for 10 minutes

  • Book Box
  • Reading A-Z - find the digraph WH book (also in packages, along with books on TH, SH and CH)

Making a story about take away.

  • Just like we did for addition, let's create a math story involving subtraction
  • be sure to use the words: subtract, take away, minus, less, left.
  • For example: My new dog Ripley had 5 new stuffies. She destroyed 2 of them. How many stuffies are left?

  • Review the digraphs th, sh, and ch.
  • introduce and discuss the digraph wh. 
  • wh makes the same sound as w but we need to learn it for when we are reading
  • make a wh poster
    • write (or draw) all the wh words you can think of
      • because it sounds just like w you will have to ask a grown-up for help
      • here are some examples: why, what, when, whale, wheel...
    • take a picture of your poster and send to Mr. Neufeld

  • Introduce the cylinder
    • discuss what a cylinder looks like

  • Introduce a cone
    • what is the difference between a cone and a cylinder?
    • can you find a cone in your house?
    • take a picture and send to Mr. Neufeld
    • can you think of where you see cones outside?
  • Complete the math sheet in the package about cylinders and cones.
